Synopsis

Mirai Kuriyama is the sole survivor of a clan of Spirit World warriors with the power to employ their blood as weapons. As such, Mirai is tasked with hunting down and killing “youmu”—creatures said to be the manifestation of negative human emotions. One day, while deep in thought on the school roof, Mirai comes across Akihito Kanbara, a rare half-breed of youmu in human form. In a panicked state, she plunges her blood saber into him only to realize that he’s an immortal being. From then on, the two form an impromptu friendship that revolves around Mirai constantly trying to kill Akihito, in an effort to boost her own wavering confidence as a Spirit World warrior. Eventually, Akihito also manages to convince her to join the Literary Club, which houses two other powerful Spirit World warriors, Hiroomi and Mitsuki Nase.

As the group’s bond strengthens, however, so does the tenacity of the youmu around them. Their misadventures will soon turn into a fight for survival as the inevitable release of the most powerful youmu, Beyond the Boundary, approaches.

Kyoukai no Kanata is an other anime series I discovered trough Tumblr. Once I finally decided to take a look at it, I just felt in love with it. It such a great and painful story. Love the main cast, Mirai Kuriyama need to be protected at all cost, she is so precious. My favorite male character is most probably Hiroomi Nase, he is sexy (even more in the movie) and funny. Cause of his abilities, he is always cold so he tend to stick around Akihito Kanbara a lot(like putting his hand under Kanbara armpit).

I really like the story in itself, cause of her power Mirai  is the only one could kill the youmu part of Kanbara, while all her attempt to kill him failed, she get close to him without wanting it. Of course, Kanbara develop feeling for her, so he try to get close to her. A story like that can’t have a good ending. While none of them die, Mirai doesn’t remember Akihito and that crush my heart into pieces. I Shed some tears, but I didn’t cry as much as I cry while watching the movie.

I loved this series and I would to anyone who like dark supernatural anime, with a little touch of humor.

  1. Another time I was disappointed. That is pretty rare, though it probably doesn’t seem that way. The world was so expansive, but it just wasn’t developed well at all. Story felt flat for me too. It’s staying power was in the animation though. I had an ok time with it.
