[Anime Crush] Yamanbagiri Kunihiro

Yamanbagiri Kunihiro is a fictional character from the game Touken Ranbu. He can also be seen in the anime series Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru and Katsugeki/ Touken Ranbu. Yamanbagiri his a uchigatana forged by Horikawa Kunihiro   ( the swordsmith not the Wakizashi of course) in 1590 CE.

Based on design and look only, I have to admit Izuminokami Kanesasa is probably my favorite, but if I take in consideration the background story, Yamanbagiri come in first position. He is the only uchigatana forged by Horiwaka Kunihiro and – apparently – his first master piece. However he is only a copy.

You see in 1590 CE, Nagao Akinaga (Japanese lord) request to Kunihiro to forge a sword which would be the copy of the Yamanbagiri sword. Now I would really like the give you information about the original sword beside the fact the original is a “divine sword”, but the one made by Kunihiro.

If there is only thing I enjoyed about the way the character are is the fact they are acting according to the back ground story of the sword they represent and this is true to Yamanbarigi Kunihiro. Due to the fact he is a copy of an other sword, he is not an original, he have an insecurity feeling, thus the need to cover himself with the ragged cloth. He doesn’t like to think about his past and due to his insecurity feeling, he doesn’t have a high self-esteem.

Despite his low self-esteem, he do a great captain, he know what he is doing and have the respect of the other sword. I mean he is the captain of the 1st unit, the strongest unit, he need to have some kind of talent to get where he is now.

Even if he doesn’t like being called beautiful, the sword itself look great. I’m maybe not an expert, but I like the way the blade is looking. I ready to telling him he look beautiful and run away with his ragged cloth each time I can until he is proud of who he is, a great sword forged by a renowned swordsmith.
