Mel’s Winter 2018 Watch List

2017 is over, the Fall anime season 2017 finished with is, now time to look at what I will watch during the Winter season 2018. Of course this list might change when the season will officially began, all depend of what Crunchyroll (Canada) will have in their catalogue.

Japanese Title: Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku
English Title: Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

29-year-old programmer Suzuki Ichirou finds himself transported into a fantasy RPG. Within the game, he’s a 15-year-old named Satou. Due to a powerful ability he possesses with limited use, he ends up wiping out an army of lizard men and becomes a high leveled adventurer. Satou decides to hide his level, and plans to live peacefully and meet new people. However, developments in the game’s story, such as the return of a demon king, may cause a nuisance to Satou’s plans.

Another «isekai» anime series, another light novel adaptation, even if I feel like we are saturated with the genre, the PV made me curious enough to add it to my list, but to be honest I don’t have really high expectation for this series.

Japanese Title: Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen
English Title: Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc

Source: Manga
Premier: January 7th
Episode Count: 22 (26?)
Studio: Madhouse

Fourteen-year-old Sakura starts junior high school along her friends, including Syaoran, who had just returned to Tomoeda. After having a dream with a mysterious cloaked figure, all of Sakura’s cards turn blank and are rendered powerless, thus she starts her quest to find out what is wrong. In doing so, Sakura and her allies discover and capture new transparent cards using a new key.

Okay this is the one I’m looking the most forward for the new season, in fact for the whole 2018. I know another great series will have new season later on in the year, but Card Captor Sakura is the 1st anime I watched knowing it was an anime, I read and loved the manga, I binged-watched the first series that came out 20 years ago and I just loved it as much I loved it the first time. I already started to read the new arc (I couldn’t read pass chapter 13 since I can’t get my hand on the scanlation) so I have an idea on what is coming along with some theory. My only concern is the fact the manga is still ongoing but there is only 22 to 26 episode announced, I just hope thing will go smoothly.

Japanese Title: Kokkoku
English Title: Kokkoku, Moment by Moment

Episode Count: N/A
Studio: Geno Studio

In a world where everyone and everything are inert, Juri and her father and grandfather run to rescue the two. But at the kidnappers’ hideout, they soon realize they are not the only ones who can move about in this still world…

The PV was enough to convince me to put it on my list, cause I have no clue what to expect from this except a lot of blood.

Japanese Title: Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens
English Title: ——

Once again the curiosity won, I never heard of the light novel, but the synopsis sound interesting.

Japanese Title: Zoku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru
English Title: ——

Episode Count: N/A
Studio: Doga Kobo

Sequel of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru

Promotional Video

I seriously miss those boys, yes we had Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu last summer, but it’s different, I love seeing the boys in the citadel. This is obviously another I’m looking forward to watch. And I think even if CR doesn’t have it, I will find a way to watch it.

Japanese Title: Sanrio Danshi
English Title: Sanrio Boys
Genre: School
Source: Original
Premier: January 6th
Episode Count: 12
Studio: Studio Pierrot

The project’s premise follows Kouta Hasegawa, a high school boy who loves the yellow Pom Pom Purin dog. By mere coincidence, he ends up attending the same school as Yuu Mizuno, a boy who likes the bunny My Melody. Yuu tells Kouta that there’s nothing to be ashamed of for liking Sanrio’s cute characters. Together, Kouta, Yuu, Shunsuke Yoshino, Ryou Nishimiya, and Seiichirou Minamoto learn to accept their love of the characters instead of feeling embarrass

In case you weren’t aware of it, I’m weak to cute and handsome boys, so it’s not really a surprise if I’m adding this one to my list.

Japanese Title: Miira no Kaikata
English Title: How to keep a mummy
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life, Supernatural
Source: Web Manga
Premier: January 12th
Episode Count: N/A
Studio: 8bit

When high school student Sora Kashiwagi finds himself staring down a mysterious oversized package sent to him by his self-proclaimed “adventurer” father, the last thing he expects is for it to be opened from the inside… by a little mummy so small it can fit in the palm of his hand!

Promotional Video

That little mummy look so adorable, I couldn’t resist to add this series to my list

There is also three Netflix exclusive title, Devilman: Crybaby, Sword Gai: The Animation and B: The Beginning that seems interesting, however I’m Canadian and there is a lot of title I can’t watch, but I will keep you updated about it.
Adding to Jthat list I also continue watching The Ancient Magus Bride, Garo: Vanishing Line and Black Clover.

This is all for my Winter 2018 watch list, as I said in the introduction it will depend of when Crunchyroll have to offer (okay I might do some exception)

What you are planning to watch during the Winter season? Is there any series you are looking forward to? let me know in the comment section below ^_^

~ Thank you for reading ~

See you next time!!

  1. I still have no idea what is on my watch list next season because I’m still waiting to see what services are streaming what and in which countries shows will be available. Besides, I went in to last season with expectations and both Black Clover and Juni Taisen just never lived up to their promotional material so I’ve been actively avoiding stuff for most of the new shows (though kind of impossible to miss some like Card Captor).

    • I think I waited to see what would be available on Crunchyroll before publishing my watch list. Oh Well of hopefully they will have a lot of title.
…I just realized, I forgot to add Violet Evergarden…damn you MAL
