The reason why I stop my choice of Momoshiro Takeshi for this Anime Crush edition is mainly cause of the OWLS posted I wrote earlier this month. The topic of this tour is Competition and I picked Prince of Tennis as series. You can find my OWLS post here and the complete OWLS schedule here (I have to plug my group right).
Momoshiro Takeshi is a second year of Seishun Gakuen (shorten to Seigaku), he is a smash specialist, one of his most effective trick is the “Dunken Smash”, a smash made when he jump really high.
Seigaku Big Bro
Momoshiro, who everyone call Momo, is one of the prefere senpai of the team club, while everyone respect Tezuka as captain, all the first year will agree, Momoshiro is really the easiest regular to get along with. He really have that friendly personally who attract the younger member. He also care about them, like a big brother would, this is one of the reason why he is so close to them and why all the first year were worrying about him when he stopped attending the club activities for a few days after losing his title of Regular.
Learning from His Weakness
Momo might not have attended to the club activities for a few days, however this doesn’t might he slacked off. During the day he wasn’t at school, Momo was training on street court with a double team from Gyokurin, try to get better, trying to understand why he lost his position of regular. He when he played against the sister of Fudomine’s captain, An Tachibana, that Momo realize one of his weakness, he always tend to judge his opponent and he base he play on those assumptions. His bad habit to judge people cost him his position, but he learn from that and he is resolved to not make those mistakes again.
Back on the Court
After is few days of practice away from the club, Momo come back, obviously Tezuka, the club captain is not happy, but he do know Momoshiro didn’t slacked, goofing around, Tezuka know Momo train, he know his club mate work on himself to become a better player. And Momo did became a better player, putting his bad habit aside, he eventually got his regular position back and even became the vice-captain of the club once he got in this last years of middle school.
Momoshiro Takeshi is one of the great character the Prince of Tennis series have to offer, his easy-going personality make him likable and he can teach us one or two thing about learning from our weakness.
