Civilization is dead, but Chito and Yuuri are still alive. So they hop aboard their beloved Kettenkrad motorbike and aimlessly wander the ruins of the world they once knew. Day after hopeless day, they look for their next meal and fuel for their ride. But as long as the two are together, even an existence as bleak as theirs has a ray or two of sunshine in it, whether they’re sucking down their fill of soup or hunting for machine parts to tinker with. For two girls in a world full of nothing, the experiences and feelings the two share give them something to live for…
I vaguely remember browsing the Fall anime for 2017 and coming across Girls’ Last tour, I remember thinking that while the character visual seemed a bit simple, the premise look interesting. I also vaguely remember being disappointed when I realize that I couldn’t watch it (legally) cause it was airing on Strike. I saw people talking about it and I was a little bit bitter since I couldn’t watch it, I was bitter but still really curious about it, so I crossed my finger and hope that I will eventually be able to watch it one day.
Luck was eventually on my side, when HiDive announced they will aired the series at that moment I knew it was a great idea that I had when I decided to subscript to it (honestly they really have a great catalogue you should check it out)
I finished watching it some time ago (last year before October) so this post it mostly based on my impression and memories.
The show in itself is not a cute one, the girls live in an ugly post-apocalyptic world, there is nothing around other then abandoned building and factory. It’s really not a pretty sight, despite that there is some warm moment that make you almost forget about the girls surrounding, those moments made me smile.
I really enjoyed discovering the world in which the girl live, I like the idea of a different level city and seems to be big enough to be country, each area was different and was showing us something new about the world in which Chi and Yuu lived. The series given me a lot to think about, like what kind of trace I would left behind.
The show visual might be a bit simpliste with the simple design, but don’t let you fool by i, Girls’ Last Tour is one of those show that could be throw at the face of those who think that anime is just for kid, honestly I doubt a kid would understand the meaning behind each episode.
Did you watch the series? What was your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comment section blow!
